Yvonne Loo
Artist Profile
Yvonne Loo is a self-taught artist born in Singapore, specialising in wildlife, landscapes and other semi-abstract works.
From a young age, Yvonne had a deep exposure to the humanities, arts and sciences in school, exploring different ways of ‘seeing’ the world. She eventually pursued a career in science but returned to painting at the age of 30.
Her works reflect a scientific attention to detail, order and rationality, contrasted by a raw, emotional depth, as seen in the enigmatic gazes of the animals in her wildlife paintings. Hope is a recurrent theme, calling attention to an innate idealism which sees our world as a place where relationships flourish, beauty is celebrated and hope triumphs.

Love in its truest form is quiet, enduring and sacrificial. It is constant and dependable, willing to do even the most thankless task and not expecting anything in return. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things. Even in the toughest battles, Love does not abandon, but chooses to stay.
Tears & Strength is dedicated to the artist’s parents. In her eyes, they are like the lion and lioness—brave, resilient and unabated. Their gaze and posture speaks of unwavering strength. They have borne through hardship like no other and shed many tears along the way, most of it unseen. The way they love others is a resounding legacy the artist holds dearly. Through their lives, the artist has learnt how families should love and what it means to be a true giver to humanity.
