Just as agriculture involves distinct stages for a successful harvest — planting, seed germination with early rains, followed by maturation and ripening triggered by the last rains of the seasons, known as the 'latter rain' — we as individuals also undergo a growth journey that culminates in maturity and a harvest of lessons and achievements.

The desire and need to BeLong is one thing all of us have in common. In Jennifer Tan's BeLonging series, its minimalism and powerful pastel landscapes capture that sense of serenity our hearts feel when we finally find a place we can call ours.

With the reflective layer at the bottom of each piece, Jennifer encourages the viewer to stop and listen to our hearts: do we BeLong or are we merely longing to BeLong?

We see the ideal; We are inspired by it; Are we living it?

Inspired by Romans 8:37, the artist reflects on the storms of life and the faith supplied us through grace to overcome the world. “we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."

“... we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” This thoughtful exploration of the passage from the book of Romans is achieved through the careful interplay between the yellowish-gold and black hues in this abstract painting. Consider how the yellowish-gold almost seems to emerge in the foreground, out of the morass of black. We are beckoned to consider that, even in the darkest times, we are never far from the love of God. In other words, we come forth as gold.
