Long before it welcomed today’s coffee lovers at Common Man Coffee Roasters, 185 Joo Chiat Road was the original birthplace of Guan Hoe Soon, Singapore’s oldest Peranakan restaurant. It was here that Hainanese founder Yap Chee Quee first shared his labor-of-love Nyonya recipes with the neighborhood.
Though the flavors and eras have evolved, the soul of this corner endures—a place to “Gather at the Crossroads”, where shared moments and good food continue to connect generations.
