Traditional Peranakan desserts are an integral part of Singaporean culture. Ang Ku Kueh which literally translates to Red Tortoise Cake symbolises prosperity (the colour red) and longevity (the tortoise). The colourful multi-layered cakes symbolises multiplication of wealth and sweet abundance.
