Singapore River and Elgin Bridge

from SGD 50.00

PAULINE PHOON

Framed Print

50 × 40cm

2017

Suggested by an acquaintance, the artist sketched the old Singapore River. Bum boats carrying cargo were a normal sight by the river then. Elgin Bridge was the first permanent bridge built over the Singapore River. Nothing fancy but a silent witness to changing landscape along this river.

This is a series of sketches of historical buildings and structures in Singapore. Largely monochromatic, these sketches evoke a sense of nostalgia, reminding Singaporeans of how far the nation has come. Customisable wordings can also be written below the image upon request, at an additional charge.
